PC Repair In London - Time To Switch Off Then On Again?

A few years ago the Government announced an initiative to introduce computers into every home and school within the United Kingdom in a bid to ensure that every child has a chance of keeping up with the fast paced change of the technology tide. This influx of computer equipment is sure to generate a plethora of new jobs from PC manufacturing to PC repair. We went to a PC repair company in London to find out exactly what they might be expecting when the legislations come in, and what types of repairs they are likely to be making.

It turns out that PC repairs are only a small part of the job of an information technology engineer. Desktop computers are relatively stable platforms, especially when compared to laptops, and we have been assured that the majority of repair time is spent on laptops and notebooks. Because PC’s are left in one place, and rarely have their connections pulled, tugged and changed, there is less chance of damage from wear and tear, and far less chance of accidental damage.

Laptops are often dropped, and because they are a single unit rather than made of various components, once one function is damaged, the whole computer is unusable. Not so with a PC. So it seems fair to say that the influx of computers into London schools and homes will not have much of an effect on the trade of PC repair companies in London, unless of course the Government are thinking of investing in laptops. Once again, this is not so.

Carrying out hardware repairs is only one aspect of the types of services PC repair companies offer. Software installation, network installation and IT relocation are all specialised technical services offered by such companies, and all of these will be in huge demand in the near future, and not only in London. In fact, if the 30 million or so homes in England each have one computer, the job prospects for PC repair professionals will improve dramatically in London and beyond.

Of course it is large cities that will see the biggest hike in business, but as over the phone technical services and support becomes more of a reality, there is a chance that the bigger PC repair companies could become a national entity. Either that, or there is a possibility that every workplace will have it’s own IT specialist to cope with the demand of switching the computer off then on again.
