Troubleshooting printer problems can be a frustrating experience if you arent sure what the situation is. There are some common aspects of it though that you should explore in order to determine what could be going wrong. If you have the owners manual, go through each step of it to find out what should be in place. Hopefully you will find some great diagrams available. Not all of the printer books though are well designed so that may not be much help to you.

Check all of the connections to make sure they are in place. Something may be unplugged on the back of the computer or the printer which will render it unable to work. Your computer may be able to give you and idea too. For example it may tell you that no USB is recognized. Check that cord and if it is where it should be then you may need to replace it.

Try a test print page to see what types of results you get there. If that doesnt work, check your ink cartridges. They may be empty or not installed properly. Sometimes the printer is confused so by turning it off and then back on it can restart and perform the function that you need. If the inside of the printer is dusty you can use some spray can air to remove it and find out if that makes a differences in the functionality of it for you. Make sure you check the printer heads too because that is where problems are often found.

The paper you are using could be the culprit as well. Poor quality paper may not feed properly through the printer like it should. There may be a piece of one caught in there that was jammed before. You need to carefully inspect the printer by opening the lid of it. Remove any small pieces of paper that may be in there.

The internet can offer you a great place to search when you are troubleshooting printer problems. In fact, you can search for them by model to get the exact information for your type of printer. This can be helpful when the basics to check didnt show you any problems that corrected what your printer needs in order to be fully functional for you.

Of course every make and model of printer out there has some different elements that could be the problem. If these basic things dont get you the results you want then you should contact the support team for the printer.
